Squash finds unusual place to grow

David and Aline Hanson, who live near the Pine River golf course, were surprised to find buttercup squash growing in the flowering crab tree in their backyard.

The buttercup squash plant trailed over and outside the garden fence, and up the nearby tree like a trellis. Now four squash are growing 10-feet up amongst the branches of the crab tree.

The couple has lived there a number of years, and this is the first time it has happened.
