Four people - Howard Peterson, George Rybolt, Paul Thiede and Barb Uppgaard - filed for the Crow Wing County District 2 seat. Meanwhile, Frank Ball, Jon Main and Dick Ross will be running for Crow Wing County sheriff.

The Sibley Township board voted to oppose a Crow Wing County plan to allow an asphalt and concrete plant at a gravel pit on County Road 29, near West Twin Lake.

Bob Holland of Nisswa played the horn for the first time in 33 years since doctors warned him that playing could result in mouth and throat cancer. Holland played for several big bands in the 1940s and 1950s.
