Braam remains on paid leave

Pequot Lakes police chief Jerry Braam remained on paid administrative leave this week.

The city is investigating a complaint against Braam, which is why Mayor Nancy Adams placed him on leave Monday, Aug. 16.

Officer Kate Petersen was appointed acting chief in Braam's absence.

City officials won't say why Braam was placed on leave as the investigation continues.

Adams is the council liaison to the police department.

The city hired Braam as police chief in August 2005. Before coming to Pequot Lakes, he was assistant police chief for the Lower Sioux Community in Morton and worked for the State Patrol.
