Ukrainian Easter egg artist to present program at Pequot Library on Sept. 13



Area resident Donna Collins will present the next "Conversation With ..." program at the Pequot Lakes Community Library at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 13.

Collins, a retired Pequot Lakes elementary school teacher, will demonstrate the art of of decorating pysanky, also known as Ukrainian Easter eggs, in a presentation titled "The Mystique of Ukrainian Eggs."

She will show the techniques used to make the eggs as well as provide examples of the finished product. Pysanky are eggs created with the wax-resist method (batik) and decorated with traditional folk motifs and designs.

Collins and her husband, John, the midday DJ for KLKS Radio in Breezy Point, live near Pine River.

This presentation is free and open to anyone interested. "A Conversation With ..." is a library-sponsored program with the goal of bringing experts in various fields to interested members of the community.
