55+ driver improvement programs offered in September



The Minnesota Highway Safety Center will be offering the following 55+ Driver Improvement Course.

Sept. 21 (4-Hour Refresher Course)

5 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Pequot Lakes High School/Com. Ed. 30805 Olson St;

Pequot Lakes

Sept. 22 (4-Hour Refresher Course)

8 a.m. to noon

Sacred Heart Church Hwy 371, 300 1st St S; Hackensack

Sept. 23 (4-Hour Refresher Course)

9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Lutheran Church of the Cross 5064 Cty Rd 13; Nisswa

Sept. 29 (4-Hour Refresher Course)

9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Pine River State Bank 103 Mill St S; PO Box 67; Pine River

The Driver Improvement course is open to the public; however, pre-registration is requested. A MN Highway Safety & Research Center certified instructor teaches this class.Ê

Driver safety, confidence and comfort are enhanced by utilizing the most up-to-date research in the field, including the latest visual scanning and steering techniques, anti-lock braking (ABS) skills, airbag information, driver distraction, road rage and new vehicle technology.Ê

There is a fee to take the course. For more information or to register call 1-(888)-234-1294.

Persons age 55 and older who complete the course qualify for a 10 percent discount on their auto insurance premiums for three years, according to Minnesota law.Ê

First time participants must complete two four-hour sessions.Ê Repeat persons are required to take a four-hour refresher course.
