Rally Up North bike ride this weekend

Rally Up North (RUN), held each Labor Day weekend in the Brainerd lakes area, was started five years ago as a way to give back to the community.

Confidence Learning Center in East Gull Lake, an educational and recreational center for people of all ages with developmental disabilities, was selected as the primary beneficiary of RUN.

Rally Up North will start with a registration party, including live music by John Pribyl, at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at The Old Waterfall, which is also the starting point for this year's ride.

Pre-registration for RUN has already passed, but interested parties can register the morning of the event. Registration will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 1, at The Waterfall and is $20 per person. All riders must be ready by noon, which is when the ride leaves.

The RUN route includes stops at Zorbaz, Moonlite Bay and Bridge Tavern before ending back at The Waterfall around 6:30 p.m.

Upon returning to The Waterfall, riders will have a pig roast and live music by Electric Almighty. Door prizes will be given throughout the evening and the Custom Bike Raffle will be at 10:30 p.m. Non-riders are welcome at The Waterfall for a fee of $10.

Next year's RUN will be held at the Crow Wing County Fairgrounds.
