Bob Heales, a private investigator who lives in Crosslake, organized and will host the World Association of Detectives' 83rd annual conference in Denver.
International film star Julia Ormond will talk about her role as a United Nations Goodwill Ambas-sador and founder and president of ASSET, the Alliance Stop Slavery and End Trafficking.
Ormond will speak at the W.A.D. Past President's Brunch on Friday, Sept. 19. Her attendance comes as a result of the association's conference theme, "An International Symposium for Human Rights Awareness, Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the United Nations Declaration."
A seminar on "Human Trafficking and Slavery" will be presented by Larry Gassin and Dottie Laster of Strike Force Training Sept. 20.
Heales is a past president of W.A.D. and operates offices in Denver, Minneapolis and Crosslake. Heales has become an advocate for promoting awareness and safety for young women and children and has worked with the family of Dru Sjodin in that effort.
Heales has selected Ormond to receive the association's prestigious "Truth in Action Award" which will be presented at the brunch.
