Norbert "Norb" Rau, age 84, of Breezy Point, died at his home Friday, Aug. 8, 2008. Memorial services were Aug. 12, at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Pequot Lakes. Interment in Pelican Woods Cemetery in Breezy Point. Memorials are preferred to the St. Alice Catholic Church Building Fund in Pequot Lakes.
He was born April 24, 1924 in Benton County, to Phillip and Margaret (Jurek) Rau. He was united in marriage to Regina "Jean" Lewandowski on June 8, 1946 in St. Cloud. He spent 39 months in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Essex. He worked as a brick and stone contractor in Robbinsdale for 29 years. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the VFW. He also belonged to Catholic Aid and many other service organizations.
Norb is survived by Jean, his loving wife of 62 years; his children, Nancy (Daryl) Weber, of Maple Grove, Mark (Shar) Rau, of Anoka, Susan (Bill) Schaefer, of Maple Grove, and Debbie (Leo) Castellan, of Carlsbad, CA; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
