The victim was identified as Verdelle Goble, 76, of Brainerd. Goble was crossing College Drive in the crosswalk at Southwest Sixth Street when she was struck by a pickup driven by Nathan Carlson, 27, of East Gull Lake. Carlson was traveling east.

Investigators believe the angle of the sun at this location and time of the morning may have hampered visibility to eastbound drivers. The accident remains under investigation.
