David A. Lueck

Rochester


David A. Lueck, 70, a 60-year resident of Rochester before moving to Backus 10 years ago, died Friday, July 24, 2009, at Seasons Hospice in Rochester, after a brief encounter with leukemia.

David Albert Lueck was born to Roy and Dorothy Lueck on Sept. 12, 1938, in Rochester, where he graduated from Rochester High School in 1956. He graduated from Mankato State University, majoring in business. David married Connie Hammer, and they were later divorced.

David worked in the home mortgage business for 35 years. He was a vice president for Rochester Savings and Loan Company and Wells Fargo. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, was a charter member of the Rochester Moose Lodge, a 41-year member of The Eagles and miscellaneous banking organizations. He enjoyed all athletics, especially bowling, softball, baseball and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time at his cabin on Bass Lake and his retirement cabin on Bowen Lake.

Survivors include his loving companion and caregiver, Marlys Meyer of Backus; two brothers, Robert Lueck of Volente, Tex., and Richard (Jill) Lueck of Medina, Minn.; five nephews, Bob (Lisa) Lueck and Tom (Carrie) Lueck of Austin, Tex., Mike (Jillene) Lueck of Delano, Minn., Jeff Lueck of Minneapolis, and Brian Lueck of Rochester; and his beloved dog, Emma. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Dorothy (Langton) Lueck; and his grandparents, Merton and Lena Langton.

There was a memorial service July 28, at Bethel Lutheran Church (810 3rd Ave. S.E.).

Memorials can be made to the Eagles Cancer Telethon or pet shelters/humane society of donor's choice.
