H2 Enterprises, LLC acquires Crosslake loan

The Crosslake City Council on Monday unanimously agreed to let H2 Enterprises, LLC acquire $32,000 of a loan owed to the city by Manhattan Beach, LLC.

The council was approached earlier this year about the possibility of assigning all of its rights, title and interest still owed to the city to H2 Enterprises, LLC.

City Attorney Michael Couri said H2 acquiring the promissory note will benefit the city's coffers.

"This will bring us pretty close to our original loan plus interest, but not quite," Couri said.

Couri indicated that H2 wanted to move quickly on this acquirement, and they will probably close before the end of July.

In other business, Crosslake Police Chief Robert Hartman presented two requests for changes in policies.

One policy change is to the department's Criminal History Policy. Hartman requested that the city adopt a new "Model Policy," which is recommended by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety's Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

This new policy will ensure that all confidential information is safeguarded.

Hartman also asked the council to adopt a new policy on reporting missing people regardless of age.

The standing policy does not allow the police to immediately take a missing persons report for someone over age 18. The new policy will allow the Crosslake Police Department to immediately take a report and conduct a preliminary investigation.

The council unanimously approved both policies.

In other business Monday, the council:

  • Grudgingly approved the resignation of longtime Crosslake City Clerk Darlene Roach.

  • Approved the buy back of two cemetery lots from Barbara Huso, which were originally purchased by her aunt, Emma Reitz, in the 1970s.
