Sheila Colleen Mekola, age 48 of Backus, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2008 at Bethany Good Samaritan Center in Brainerd. Sheila was born May 23, 1960 in Brainerd to Denton and Beverly Newman.
She is survived by her daughter, Staff Sergeant Alicia Sexton serving in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Eustis, Newport News, VA; son, Daniel Sexton (Tara) of Backus; parents, Denton and Beverly Newman of Backus; brothers, Denton Newman Jr. (Christine) of Backus, Andrew Newman (Pamela) of Backus; sister, Holly Geissler of Silver Bay; four nieces, six nephews; aunt, Kathy Hanson (Roger) and one cousin of New Hope. She was preceded in death by an infant sister.
Services were July 9 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Backus with Pastor Ronald Carnicum officiating.
Arrangements are with Kline Funeral Home, Pine River.
