There's more to filling a prescription than counting out the capsules. Pharmacist and Crosslake Drug owner Steve Kappes says it's important to communicate with the customers.
"It's my role to make sure the person understands what the doctor told them and how to take their medication," Kappes said.
That's something he does very well. Crosslake Drug is your friendly, neighborhood drugstore.
Kappes first was a pharmacist in Pequot Lakes. In 2001, he bought Kack Drug Crosslake. which was located on Route 66. He changed the name to Crosslake Drug In March he moved Crosslake Drug to Town Square.
The change in location has worked very well for Kappes. He has a larger facility and more room for both the pharmacy and the rest of the store. The drive-up window idea had to be scrapped, but probably many of his prescription customers wouldn't use it anyway. They like to talk to Kappes.
If you need a prescription filled or an over-the-counter medication, He takes time to help his customers with all their medication needs, from aspirin and bandages to the doctor's prescription He's been known to come out of the pharmacy and get down on a youngster's level and convince the child that it's possible to swallow the pill, especially when it's followed by ice cream. He knows his customers and they know he cares about them.
"We hang our hat on the pharmacy," Kappes said.
But there's more to Crosslake Drug than medications. It's a full service drugstore with a selection of gifts, non-prescription eye glasses and sun glasses. toys and games for kids, greeting cards, soap, toothpaste, mouthwash, boxes of candy, and of course, suntan lotions and flip flops. His staff will help you find what you need.
