Rudy was born to Othmar and Marguerite Otto (Johnson) on Nov. 2, 1934. He passed away Nov. 24, 2007. He graduated from Pequot Lakes High School, Pequot Lakes, in 1952. He joined the Navy and served from 1952 to 1956. He worked as a meat cutter for Red Owl groceries, also worked for the Minneapolis Star and Tribune before moving to Arizona in 1971. He owned his own business and later worked for Maciopa County Prisons as head cook until he retired.

He is survived by three brothers, Kenneth Otto of Britt, IA, Omer (Betty) of Canby, OR, Ronald (Carol) of Mankato; one sister, Ione (Steve) Bird of Mesa, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donald and Delos; two sisters, Evangeline Pies and Verdella Owens.

Burial was at Veteran's National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.
