Stephanie Eckardt, daughter of Kurt Eckardt and Sharon Eckardt, Pequot Lakes, competed June 20 at the State Games of America in St. Cloud.
She was awarded first place in the Pre-Juvenile Showcase Event, where the top three medal winners qualify to compete in the 2011 State Games of America National Championships in San Diego, Calif.
In the Showcase Event, Eckardt skated to "Macho Man" and was judged on technical merit, originality, creativity and musical interpretation and presentation.
The Star of the North Games is Minnesota's annual Olympic-style amateur sports festival, with more than 5,000 athletes from all over the state competing in 24 different sports.
Eckardt, a member of the Breezy Point Figure Skating Club, is coached by Lynn (Robideaux) Wick.
