Angela Cole, a seventh-grader at Pequot Lakes Middle School, recently donated an 11-inch ponytail to Locks of Love.
Locks of Love, a nonprofit organization, is devoted to helping every child suffering from medical hair loss. Their mission statement is to return a sense of self, confidence and normalcy to children suffering from hair loss by utilizing donated ponytails to provide the highest quality hair prosthetics to financially disadvantaged children.
She felt strongly about donating her hair after she saw a TV documentary showing how donating one's hair could be used for making wigs for children and seeing her grandmother's hair thin out after her treatments for cancer.
Hairstylist Cheryl Beebe of Crosslake Hair Co. followed the guidelines outlined by Locks of Love in cutting Angela's hair. Hair must be a minimum of 10 inches tip to tip to be usable by the organization.
Angela is the daughter of Chuck and Cheryl Cole of Crosslake.
