The Cass County Republican BPOU would like to express its appreciation to two members for their generous contributions. They each recently received a Social Security stimulus check for $250 that they refer to as their "Obama checks."
After careful consideration on how to put this windfall to good use, they decided to donate the $500 to our BPOU (Basic Political Organizational Unit). So the money they received because of the Democrats' "spending package" shall, in turn, be spent on Republican candidates trying to defeat them in the next election.
The irony was not lost on all those present at our May meeting. If there are any other like-minded individuals who would like to follow their example, we would welcome your contributions also.
As conservatives in Cass County Minnesota, we are very concerned with the direction this country is headed since the new administration was elected last fall. Was this out-of-control spending and government control over private industry and even our individual freedoms the "change" you wanted?
We will do our best to elect Republican candidates that will promote our conservative values of less government and spending, and focus on individual freedom and free enterprise.
If you would like to get involved, we usually meet every third Thursday of the month at the Legion in Backus at 7 p.m. However, our July meeting will be held Thursday, July 23, because of a conflict with county fair. For more information, you can call me at (218) 566-1313.
Thanks again for their generous contribution.
Jan Schultz,
vice-chair, Cass County GOP BPOU
