Olson to host area town hall meetings

Sen. Mary Olson, DFL-Bemidji, will host town hall listening sessions June 16-18 designed to give area residents the opportunity to offer input and ask questions about the recently completed legislative session.

She'll be at Pequot Lakes City Hall at noon Monday, June 16, at the Crosslake Community Center at 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, and at Emily City Hall at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 18.

Other area stops Monday include Backus City Council Chambers at 9 a.m. and Pine River City Council Chambers at 10:30 a.m.

Tuesday stops include Longville Senior Citizens' Building at 9 a.m. and Hackensack Senior Class Building at 5 p.m.

"It's not too early to begin discussing the tough choices we are likely to face next session," said Olson. "During the upcoming listening sessions, I hope to garner as much input from community members as possible. I value my constituents' perspective on these issues and will keep their advice in mind as I weight the choices we make in St. Paul."

Olson said the upcoming district tour would also provide an opportunity to discuss the Star Lake program she helped establish this session, and the potential opportunities it will create for the lake associations in her district.

In addition, Olson is asking area residents and local officials to bring their ideas for future regional tourism and economic-development initiatives to the meetings.
