Margaret Flier, age 72, of Backus, passed away Monday, May 26, 2008 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Funeral services were June 2, 2008 at the Goodland Presbyterian Church in Goodland, MN, with Pastor Broom officiating. A private family interment will be at a later date.

Margaret Rose Flier was born on Nov. 9, 1935 in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Ann (Tremblet) Barry. She grew up and attended school in Corner Brook, NFLD. On Nov. 14, 1953 she was united in marriage to Richard Flier. She lived in the Goodland, MN area for 31 years, then moved to Backus, where she lived the next 20 years. Four months ago she moved to Avon, to live with her daughter, Karen, and her son-in-law, James, because of her health. Among the things she enjoyed were gardening, birds, word find puzzles, and people. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the loves of her life.

Margaret will be dearly missed by her children, Cheryl (John) Gangl, of Nashwauk, Cindy (Ken) Kleinschmidt, of Little Falls, Rick (June) Flier, of Aitkin, Karl (Karen) Flier, of Backus, Karen (James) Calgaro, of Avon, and Randy (Donna) Flier, of Aitkin; 20 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Patrick Barry, of Corner Brook, New Foundland, Winnifred (Robert) Holmes, of Ottawa, Ontario, Josephine (Wilmore) Howell, of Corner Brook, New Foundland, and Robert (Rita) Barry, of Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Ann; brother, Thomas Barry; and grandson, Aaron Gangl.
