Why I relay: personal experience

HUG/HDT has team 'mascot'

Bob McLean
Bob McLean is the official Hunt Utilities Group/Happy Dancing Turtle team "mascot." Bob is the chief operating officer for Hunt Utilities Group, LLC in Pine River and has a personal experience in the fight against cancer.

He says, "I don't know anyone who hasn't had someone affected by cancer."

Hunt Utilities Group is a proud corporate sponsor of the Pine River-Backus Relay For Life and has had a team involved with the event since 2004. We would like to encourage all to come and check out this unique community event.

The highlight of the opening ceremony is the survivor's lap and all in attendance are invited down to the track to cheer on the survivors. The opening ceremony begins at 6 p.m. There will be live entertainment to follow and at dusk is the moving luminary lighting ceremony.

Please join us in the fight against cancer.

Relay is June 20

The Pine River-Backus Area Relay For Life will be Friday, June 20, at the Pine River-Backus High School track beginning at 6 p.m. with the opening ceremony honoring our survivors.

There is no admission to the event and each campsite has an activity or food item for sale with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.

The Relay For Life is an overnight fundraising event for the American Cancer Society. The team captains are sharing their reasons for being involved in this event over the next few weeks leading up to the relay.

Ellen Bristow and Kathy Hoefs are the team captains from Hunt Utilities Group and included a picture of their "team mascot," Bob McLean.

Contact Tina Grewe at 568-6084 for more information about Relay For Life.
