Crosswoods men's golf league

Crosswoods men's handicap golf league began Tuesday, May 6. The league plays every Tuesday and Thursday. Participants don't have to attend every Tuesday or Thursday; come when you can.

The league plays the back nine except on the first and third Thursday of the month. On those days it plays all 18 holes starting on the front.

All ages and skill levels are welcome. The league at times will play a game-of-the-day for variety and interest.

This year all members are asked to pay a $25 initial league fee. This includes membership in Minnesota Golf Association, who will compute your handicap on any course you play during the year. You will also get their monthly magazine, Minnesota Gopher.

Tee time in May and September will be 9 a.m. Be at the clubhouse 20 minutes before tee time for team assignments and game-of-the-day review.

Tee time will change to 8:30 a.m. for June, July and August.

Crosswoods men's golf league winners from May 1: first place team - Al Stans, Earl Lidholm and Jim Little. Second place team - Dale Tracy, Charlie Peterson and Bob Mattson.

Closest to the pin, Roger Weis; longest putt (18), Dave Oleson; chip-ins, Roger Weis.

Breezy Point ladies' golf

The Breezy Point ladies golf league will begin play for the season at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 15, at the Whitebirch Golf Course.

Check-in is at 9:30 a.m. Game of the day is a four-person scramble.

Women golfers are invited to join. League dues are $30, and handicap fees are $25. Newcomers are welcome any time during the season and club membership is not required.

Breezy Point men's league

The first week of the Breezy Point men's Twilight League is scheduled for Thursday on the front nine of the Whitebirch Golf Course.

Thursday's matchups: Bodyworks vs. McAllister Electric, Mills Motors vs. Thomas & Associates, Dick Parks Gas vs. Cedar Creek Lumber, Lions vs. Birchwood Bar.

Madden's women's league

The first night of the Madden's women's league is scheduled for Tuesday, May 13, at the Pine Beach West Course.

The nine-hole league begins with a 5:30 p.m. shotgun start.

For those who wish to play nine holes before league, the cost is $5 extra.

Tee time will be available between 2:45 and 3:15 p.m.

Madden's offers new 'Out with the Boys' men's league

The new "Out with the Boys" men's league at Madden's Resort will begin May 15 at the Pine Beach West Course.

A 5:30 p.m. shotgun start will begin the nine-hole league. Extra play will be allowed based on availability after league play is complete.

The cost is $25 per evening and includes golf, cart and prizes.

Men's league at Legacy Courses

Dutch's Duffers' 36.5-7.5 victory over Mar-Jons/MJ's May 1 on Bobby's Legacy planted it on top of the leaderboard of the men's league at the Legacy Courses at Cragun's.

Halverson Law Office defeated Shep's on 6th 27-17 to remain in second place. Deerwood Bank's 26.5-17.5 victory over American National pushed it into third place after the second week of action.

Week one featured a team scramble. Winning that was Ocelco Inc. with 32.25 points. Halverson Law was second and Lakes Financial Services was third.

Patrick Johnson of Pequot Lakes aced the 171-yard 17th hole at The Preserve at Grand View Lodge in Pequot Lakes on May 4 using a 6 iron.

Grand View hosts free lesson month

PGA and LPGA professionals at Grand View Lodge's Pines and Preserve Golf Courses will offer free 10-minute lessons throughout May.

Free golf, fishing and gathering for veterans

Cragun's Resort will host its sixth annual Veterans Appreciation Event May 26-27 at Cragun's Resort and Legacy Golf Courses.

Veterans will receive complimentary green fees on all three Legacy Golf Courses with a $10 charge per person for a golf cart. Friends and family can play with a veteran for $35. Call (218) 825-2789 for tee times.

Veterans and their families and friends can enjoy free use of Cragun's docks and rowboats with or without motors May 26-27. Pontoon rental is available for $10 per hour. Call (218) 825-2806 for fishing reservations.

Cragun's will also host a casual veterans family social from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Legacy Clubhouse.

All veterans are welcome, including those returning from recent assignments.

Junior golf development program

Chris Foley Golf Schools at Madden's Resort will host junior golf programs during the summer.

The programs take young golfers from the introduction to the game to playing competitive high school golf.

The Rookie school runs June 4-July 9. The Intermediate school runs June 4-July 10.

A junior golf camp is Aug. 4-8 and Kids on the Course program runs June 5-Aug. 7.

A high school development program is June 3-July 8.

Parent/child event scheduled

Spots remain for the second annual Madden's Parent/Child Memorial Day Tournament.

The event begins with a welcome reception and tournament introduction May 23 followed by two 18-holes of golf Saturday and Sunday. An awards reception will follow Sunday's second round.

The 36-hole better ball event has four divisions. A father-child junior division and senior division and a mother-child junior and senior division, depending upon the age of the child.

Entry fee is $75 per team for Madden's resort guests and $215 for non Madden's guests.

Relay for Life golf event

The Relay for Life golf outing is scheduled at 1:30 p.m. May 8 at Grand View Lodge's The Pines Golf Course in Nisswa.
