Be careful when our political candidates make promises. There are some things they can absolutely not change, yet many voters are gullible to think the politicians can deliver on their promises.
In 2006, Nancy Pelosi said if you give me a democratically controlled Congress I will do something about gas-oline costs. She got her wish.
Since then gas costs have risen from $2.19 per gallon to $3.50 per gallon. The unemployment rate was 4.5 percent, now that has increased 10 percent.
Consumer confidence was at a three-year high. Now consumer confidence has plummeted. American households have seen $2.3 trillion loss in equity of stocks and mutual funds. Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion.
America voted for a change in 2006 and we got it. Remember, Congress makes the laws not the president. He just has to work with the turkeys we give him. Both Democrat candidates have promised to raise taxes which will further damage our economy-all except the economy in Washington, D.C.
Next time one of the candidates make a promise ask exactly how they will go about it. In many cases they have no more control of the economy or gas prices than they have on the weather. They could be playing on your wishes rather than reality!
