"Overstaffed? You decide."
In Kim Bachmann's letter she said: "By comparison, the city of Minneapolis has 382,618 people with a police staff of 800 officers. Again, simple math, one officer per 478 people. Hmm!"
So, she asked me to decide. Well, I thought I needed more info. So, here's what I found.
Minneapolis Violent Crime in 2007:
Murders, 57; Rapes, NA; Robberies, 3,028; Aggravated Assaults, 2,836; Property Crimes, 22,561; Burglaries, 5,826; Larceny/Thefts, 13,110; Vehicle Thefts, 3,625; Arsons, 232.
Ok, I've decided. I vote to keep the Pequot Lake Police Department just as it is and resist comparing ourselves to the most violent city in the State.
You don't hear anybody saying, "We shouldn't spend so much money keeping our lakes clean. They are much dirtier in Minneapolis!"
I think the police department does a great job and I appreciate their efforts.
