The Breezy Point City Council decided Monday against hiring any organization to conduct a space needs study for city hall.
Mayor JoAnn Weaver said she felt the city would not be doing the right thing in moving forward with a space study at this time.
"I feel we're living in a time when a lot of people are looking for dollars," Weaver said, noting fire department issues she heard of at a recent fire board meeting as being some of the current higher priority needs.
A committee consisting of City Administrator Brad Scott, City Clerk Kathy Millard and Public Works Director Tim Polipnick representing city staff and council members Erik Lee and Kent Brothen met last month with representatives from five firms that responded to the city's request for proposals.
The committee recommended a firm to do the evaluation; however, council members Pete Sauer and Lee were outnumbered in the vote to discontinue space study efforts at this time.
