The Country Echo Easter bunny coloring contest winners are announced. Tracy Hofius of Jenkins took first place and won $25. Eric Erickson of Hackenack won $10 for second place and Chad Cassanova of Pequot Lakes won $5 for third place. Honorable mention went to Stacy Yundak for neatness, Jodi Badger for originality, Patrick Greer and LaRaye Hartwig.

There are eight candidates running for the three positions open on the Pequot Lakes School Board. They are Donna M. Abear, Joni Anderson, Cheryl Craig, Mike Heuberger, Marnie Luce, Richard Paine, Kay Spizzo and Dorothy L. Yund.

Betty Ryan, Echo staff writer, reports that the ice went out on the north section of Pelican Lake including Breezy Point Bay and Halvorson Bay. Boats were being put in at the public landing on County Road 11. Harvey Roggenkamp reports that from Lincoln Point and Jones Bay south, was still ice bound with some ice piling up on the west shore.
Kara Foss, a sophomore and mezzo soprano from Pequot Lakes High School, received a "Best in Site" rating for her performance at a vocal contest at Staples. She sang Se tu m'ami by Giovanni Pergolesi in the vocal solo section of the Minnesota State High School League Section 6A sub-section competition.
