Matt Walsh, owner of Matty's in Lake Shore, confirmed Monday he is in the process of buying Bar Harbor Supper Club.
"I don't know what will happen in next two months. This is a big purchase," Walsh said, noting he couldn't say anything more at this time.
Deanna and Steve Anderson are longtime owners of Bar Harbor. Steve's father constructed the original nightspot in the late 1930s.
In the spring of 2004, the Andersons opened a new, larger supper club they built next door to the former club. The new building features a Cape Cod design with lighthouse that was inspired by the original building Anderson's father constructed. That original building had burned to the ground in 1968.
The Andersons couldn't be reached for comment.
Walsh opened Matty's, just down County Road 77 from Bar Harbor, in February 2004. Last December, he opened a second Matty's restaurant on Highway 210 in Brainerd.
He's been involved in the hospitality business for nearly 20 years, serving Madden's on Gull Lake for 13 years and as co-owner of OB's Uptown Saloon in Pillager.
