Lake Shore: Resident pleads case for bluff determination
By Nancy Vogt
Reed Wickstrom gave a PowerPoint presentation to the Lake Shore City Council on Monday regarding bluff determination.
Wickstrom, who lives on Pine Point Road, contends that his land does not contain a bluff. However, a certificate of survey the city received in 2003 says the land does contain a bluff.
Zoning administrator Teri Hastings said that until the city receives another certificate of survey showing otherwise, the city will contend that the land contains a bluff.
The council advised Wickstrom to have another surveyor look at the land and make a bluff determination. Wickstrom maintains the original certificate of survey is flawed.
In other business Monday, the council:
Renewed liquor licenses for Bar Harbor, Lewis Lost Lake Lodge, Matty's, Sherwood Forest and Zorbaz, and tobacco licenses for Bar Harbor, Matty's and Zorbaz.
Agreed to the annual fire protection agreement with the Nisswa Fire Department. Lake Shore will pay $44,552 for services and $3,205 for the Nisswa Firemen's Relief Association.
Agreed to donate $150 each to the Brainerd, Pequot Lakes and Pillager school districts. Nisswa School, which is part of the Brainerd district, had requested funds for its Third Bloom Fool's Auction Benefit, an April 5 event at Grand View Lodge designed to raise money for educational programs at the school.
Approved a proposal for a feasibility study of road improvements to Portview Road, not to exceed $6,700.
Authorized payment of $11,020 to Pratts Excavating.
Authorized purchase of materials to build three picnic tables for Fritz Loven Park at $170 each.
