A letter writer in last week's edition of the Lake Country Echo/Pine River Journal indicates that Obama is set to lead because he has capable assistants and has shown leadership.
Obama has been a Senator for a mere two years and is running on a campaign of change, so I ask this simple question: Can anybody tell me one single piece of legislation Obama has sponsored during those two years that has actually been signed into law?
What has Obama ever led? And don't be so silly as to fall for the platitude of "change" that is his entire platform.
"Change" isn't an agenda, it's a loaded word used to bait the masses into thinking that somehow, the most liberal senator in the Senate is going to be able to unite everybody. It's almost funny were it not so pathetic that so many people actually believe in it.
But, seriously, Obama has zero accomplishments. He has spent half of his very short tenure in the Senate running for president!
The fact that he is even running baffles me, and coupled with the fact that he has no platform other than "Change," speaks to the sad state of the country.
You can't even determine his views by looking at the record because of his lack of courage to truly represent his district by voting "present" on bills instead of a yes or no.
His state Senate record: voted against requiring medical care for aborted fetuses who survive; supported allowing retired police officers to carry concealed weapons, but opposed allowing people to use handguns to defend against intruders in their homes; and voted to raise 300 taxes and fees on businesses in 2004.
Three years ago Obama was a state senator. We're talking about the president of the United States of America here, not some race for class president.
