I was shocked at the size of the tax increase in the transportation bill. The Minnesota House and Senate voted to override Gov. Tim Pawlenty's gubernatorial veto of the $6.6 billion transportation bill.
The DFL controlled Senate, DFL House and six Republicans voted to override. It will increase the state gas tax, auto license fees, and the sales tax 25 percent in the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area.
It will give a $25 tax credit for the two lowest tax brackets. This will buy a half a tank of gas. There is still a $935 million shortfall for the remainder of the 2008-09 biennium. There are two bills to tax clothing in Minnesota. What next?
