"These town meetings are a good way for me to meet local residents and discuss issues and concerns," Howes said. The meetings will be held in an open, discussion-based format. Howes and Ruud will be discussing some of the current issues legislators are facing in the 2005 session, as well as addressing any questions or concerns constituents may have. "I am interested in learning more about what the people I represent would like to see happen here at the Capitol," Howes said. "This is a great opportunity for residents to have input on what happens with our state government." The town meetings are scheduled as follows: Saturday, Feb. 26: 9 am, Hackensack Community Center; 10:30 am, Nevis City Hall; noon, Akeley Community Center; 1:30 pm, Walker City Hall; and 3 pm, Longville City Hall. Saturday, March 5: 9 am, East Gull Lake, TBA; 10:30 am, Pillager, TBA; noon, Motley, TBA; 1:30 pm, Leader, TBA. Sen. Paul Koering holds March 5 meetings Senator Paul Koering (R-Fort Ripley) will hold four town hall meetings on Sat., March 5 in Nisswa, Brainerd, Crosby and Garrison. The day begins in Nisswa at the Sportland Cafe from 9-10 am. Next will be Brainerd at the Public Library from 10:30-11:30 am. The afternoon meetings will be held at the Crosby City Hall from 12-1 pm and at the Garrison City Hall from 1:30-2:30 pm. Senator Koering will provide an overview of the legislative session and will address concerns on current issues. He will also have a question and answer portion of the meeting to get feedback from the community. "Checking in with my constituents helps me stay in touch with issues facing our cities," Koering comments. "Also, it is a great opportunity for my constituents to voice their opinions on how we should solve our state's budget shortfall."
