Koering earns Guardian of Small Business Award

District 12 state Sen. Paul Koering, R-Fort Ripley, recently was recognized by the state's largest small-business group, the National Federation of Independent Business, as a Guardian of Small Business for the 2007-08 biennium.

"Sen. Koering is a strong supporter of small-business at the capitol," said Mike Hickey, state director for NFIB/MN.

"Sen. Koering understands the vital role small businesses play in our state's economy and realizes how many jobs are created by small business each year. He has made many votes in support of small business, including voting against a new 9 percent top income tax rate and an unrealistic hike in the minimum wage that would eliminate jobs, especially for younger workers. Small business has a real friend in Sen. Koering and we are happy to announce that he has earned the Guardian of Small Business Award," concluded Hickey.

"Being a small businessman myself, I know the power to facilitate our economic recovery that our small business entrepreneurs have in Minnesota," Sen. Koering said.

"We have to do everything we can in state government to help and not hurt those who are in business for themselves, or employ even one other Minnesotan. We need all the jobs possible and most of those aren't in big fortune five hundred companies, they're in small business throughout our state," said Koering.

"I am honored that NFIB would choose me for this recognition," concluded Koering.
