Sometimes it feels like winter drags on into way too many days of frigid temperatures and accumulating snowfalls.
Instead of dreading the few more months of winter that Minnesotans are facing, there is another way to look at February, March and April.
These could be a great time to have some fun in the winter snow.
Many areas have ice rinks, ponds or lakes for ice skating, playing broomball or hockey. There are also many places, some secret and some not, that are great for sledding on tubes, toboggans or sleds.
Some sites that are great for sledding in the area won't cost you a dime. Following is a list of some of the places that citizens have shared to be fun places to bring their sleds:
Maple Hill Lutheran Church, located about 13 miles west of Pequot Lakes or Pine River. 3986 44th St. S.W., Pine River. has many places to sled down hills.
The hill on the public right-of-way by Dove Street and Belgian Drive located about 4 miles out of Breezy Point near the Whitebirch Golf Course is a popular sledding hill.
The Sibley Lake boat access is another place where some nice sledding can take place.
The hills at Eagle View Elementary School make for some great sliding opportunities.
In Lake Shore, Fritz Loven Park has a hill that makes for a fun afternoon.
