Koering announces he will seek a third term

Paul Koering

State Sen. Paul Koering, R-Fort Ripley, announced he will seek a third term in the Legislature and with it, the Republican endorsement from area Republicans.

"It has been my honor and privilege to serve the citizens of Crow Wing and Morrison counties for the last seven years," Koering said. "I want to sincerely thank everyone for the trust and support they have shown me since I first sought public office."

Koering outlined several issues that he will continue to focus on in the Minnesota Senate, including a primary focus on reducing the tax and regulatory burden on businesses to both attract new businesses to the state and keep existing jobs.

"The notion that government creates jobs is false - it does not. All it does is take money away from someone and gives it to someone else," he said. "I believe that if Minnesota would lower its taxes and streamline its regulatory process, the private sector would respond in prosperity and begin to provide the jobs our people so desperately need."

Koering added that he will continue to fight for the protection of the unborn and vulnerable citizens and will also continue being an advocate for issues promoting hunting, fishing and protecting the Second Amendment. Being a former dairy farmer, he will also continue to work vigorously on agriculture issues and affordable healthcare.

Koering serves as the leading minority member on the Capital Investment Committee and the Health, Housing and Family Security Committee. He also serves on Agricultural and Veterans Budget and Policy, Health and Human Services Budget Division, and Higher Education Budget and Policy Committees.
