Caution urged for snowmobilers

When there is snow, the clubs will work to get the trails open and useable for the season, but snowmobilers are reminded that club members are all volunteers so their schedules vary. PineandLakes.com Illustration

The Crow Wing County Snowmobile Trails Association, which is made up of the 10 snowmobile clubs in Crow Wing County and two clubs in southern Cass County, urge caution to snowmobilers before adequate snow cover is on the trails.

While the snowmobile trails in Minnesota opened Dec. 1 there are issues snowmobile clubs must address and this can't be accomplished until they can get equipment out on the trails.

Snowmobiler also should remember there has not been much cold weather yet and there is softness in the swamps and very little ice on the lakes that has reached safe levels. When there is snow the clubs will work to get the trails open and useable for the season but snowmobilers are reminded that club members are all volunteers so their schedules vary.
