Girls Basketball: Patriots top S-M, fall to Bemidji

The Pequot Lakes Patriot girls basketball team split a pair of games last week, falling in a non-conference game to Bemidji on Tuesday, Dec. 12, before topping the Staples-Motley Cardinals Friday, Dec. 15.

Patriots 69, Cardinals 34

At Staples-Motley on Friday, Dec. 15, Olivia Lane scored 29 points and Karli Skog scored 21 to lead the Patriots to a 69-34 conference win.

"We have been working hard on learning and teaching a new system and on Friday night we saw a lot of our concepts click," coach Katrina Moody said. "This is definitely a process and we are seeing strides from girls on the individual and team level. We will keep adjusting and working hard but will just take one game at a time."

The Patriots had a 41-19 lead at the half. They also outrebounded their opponents 35-13.

The Patriots moved to 3-3 overall on the season.

In Tuesday's game, the Patriots were down 22-17 at the half and were unable to pull ahead in a 51-48 defeat against Bemidji.

The Patriots were led by Lane's 24 points and Skog added 20.
