Tennis: Patriots improve to 10-6 - Boller moves to 17-3 on the season

Morgan Mudgett went 2-0 at No. 2 singles to help Pequot Lakes defeat Long Prairie-Grey Eagle and Sauk Centre by matching 5-2 scores Monday, Sept. 11.

Courtney Boller claimed a 2-0 record at No. 3 singles - moving to 17-3 - as did Maddi Pluimer at No. 4 singles.

The team of Morgan Lueck and Afton Crocker finished 2-0 at No. 3 doubles. Crocker now has 13 consecutive wins.

Patriots third at Moose Invitate

Crocker and Pluimer went 4-0 to claim the top spot at No. 3 doubles in the Moose Invitational in Brainerd on Saturday, Sept. 9. The Patriots as a team finished third out of eight teams.

Mudgett finished second at No. 2 singles, and Boller finished third at No. 3 singles.

"We were really excited to place third amidst such strong competition," coach Monica Sergent said. "Maddy Pluimer and Afton Crocker played outstanding to win the third doubles championship in a tie breaker. Morgan Mudgett had a great day placing second at No. 2 singles, and Courtney Boller did very well taking third on the day. The entire team pushed themselves hard in each of their four matches of the day, so I am very proud of them."

Mudgett, Boller and Morgan Lueck each swept their opponents, winning 6-0, 6-0 in singles play for the Pequot Lakes Patriots in a 6-1 win over the Glencoe-Silver Lake Panthers Friday, Sept. 8.

"This was a good team match for us," Sergent said.

In doubles play, Elli Saxerud and Maddy Sherman won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.
