Cross country: Patriot boys 30th, girls 31st at St. Olaf. - Younger runners compete at Forestview

Kristin Skog and Sam Person were the top two finishers for the Pequot Lakes Patriots in the 34-team St. Olaf College Invite Thursday, Aug. 31.

Skog was the first Patriot girl to finish, placing 157th out of 576 runners. As a team, Pequot finished 31st. Kenzie Nelson was next for the Patriots, finishing 283rd.

The Patriot boys finished 30th and were led by Person, who came in 176th out of 754 runners. Russell Pierzinski was 19 seconds behind him, finishing 208th.

Boys 8th at Forestview

With some varsity runners competing at St. Olaf the day, some younger Patriot runners competed in the Run for the Melon at Forestview Middle School in Baxter Friday, Sept. 1, where the Patriot boys finished eighth as a team.

Sophomore Max Johnston led the way for the Patriots, finishing 22nd with a time of 19:10.4. Collin Yahn was next for the Patriots with a time of 22:34.8.

The Patriot girls had three runners participate, with Desera Engholm leading the way with a 41st-place finish.
