Cross-country: Tiger girls 10th, boys 11th in Staples

The Pine River-Backus cross-country teams began the 2017 season with the Tiger girls finishing 10th and the boys finishing 11th at the Vintage Golf Course in Staples on Monday, Aug. 28.

The girls finished with an overall score of 244, while the boys finished with 296.

Leading the way for the Tigers was Sidney Lodge, who finished 16th with a time of 24:05. Emma Templeton and Mara Adams followed her, finishing 54th and 57th respectively.

Nick Ackerman led the way for the boys, finishing 51st with a time of 22:03. Caleb Travis followed closely behind, finishing with a time of 23:01.

The Tigers are scheduled to participate in the Wadena-Deer Creek Invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 5.

Girls team scores: United North Cental, 51; Buffalo, 56; Staples-Motley, 64; GFW, 129; Detroit Lakes, 132; Otter Tail Central, 138; W-DC, 170; LP-GE, 191; Deer River/Northland, 230; PR-B, 244.

Boys team scores: Buffalo, 23; DL, 85; GFW, 91; Staples-Motley, 97; Otter Tail Central, 119; Park Rapids, 180; W-DC, 182; Deer River-Northland, 188; Bagley-Fosston, 217; NYM, 281; PR-B, 296.
