Lehman named team MVP for Patriot baseball
Pitcher Ethan Lehman was named most valuable player at the Pequot Lakes Patriot baseball team's year-end banquet on Wednesday, June 7.
The 12-7 Patriots won the Mid-State Conference title and had a conference record of 8-0. Lehman picked up the victory on the mound in four of those conference games and had an ERA of 0.78. Austin Meister won the other four with an ERA of 2.22.
Lehman also led the team in batting average, on-base percentage, hits, doubles and RBIs.
"We did have a good season," coach Jon Kotaska said. "We got some good pitching from everybody and we also had some timely hitting from the guys, although we are a pretty young team.
Lehman, Meister, Zach Sjoblad, Tyler Manley and Marcus Klein all earned All-Conference honors, while Devan Psyck received an honorable mention.
Psyck was named the team's most improved player, Meister was named the hardest working player and Sjoblad earned the Patriot Award.
"We had great fan support from the parents, both at home and on the road," Kotaska said. "I think we have a shot at winning the Mid-State next year."
