Golf leagues-Sept. 4, 2014

Whitefish Men's League

Steve Ogren, Jim Rauenhorst, Mike Einan and Richard Gady shot a 116 to win the two-best net game in the Whitefish Men's League on Tuesday, Aug. 26.

Roger Jenson, Bill Johander, Greg Lindahl and a blind draw fired a 120 for second place. Finishing third were Larry Dahl, Don Skalman, Morrill Ronning and Joe Fetter.

Dick Femrite and Scott Thompson were closest to the pin and Jerry Moja and Rocky Wilske made the longest putts.

Whitefish Women 18-Hole

Roxanne Thompson, Nancy Schmidt, Maxine Riches and Myra Faust shot a 125 to win the cha, cha, cha event on Wednesday, Aug. 27, during the Whitefish Women's League 18-hole league.

Cheryl Bontrager, Anita Stensby, Barb Holubar and a blind draw captured second with a 128. Nancy Einan, Diane Giefer, Mimi Swanson and Joi Brandt scored 131 for third.

Fourth place went to Mary Jean Herdey, Carol Germann, Betsy Otteson and Mary Boeder.

Sharon Sullivan shot a net 68 for the low round. Nancy Schmidt also broke 70 with a 69.

Thompson, however, was the birdie queen carding four. Cathy Munger and Barb Holubar each had one. Thompson and Weber had chip ins.

The league awards and bon voyage dinner is scheduled for Sept. 8. Seating is limited so sign up early in the Whitefish pro shop.

Whitefish Women 9-Hole

On August 27th the Whitefish Nine-Hole League had their weekly golf game. The game of the day was "Beat The Pro". Steve Bengtson (our Pro), was competing his total gross score against the ladies total net scores. It was lots of fun and it was a beautiful day to play golf.

Ten Ladies had a net score lower than Steve's gross score. They are as follows:

Carol Lovro and Cathie Leiendecker-Foster with net scores of 32

Kathy Keeling with a net score of 33

Jane Kleinsasser with a net score of 34

Carol Lindahl, Mary Erickson, Delores Rubald and Sue Loechler with net scores of 36

Ruth Klukow and Barb Wetter with net scores of 37

Breezy Point Men's League

Billy's 2 beat Antlers 12-8 Aug. 28 to garner enough points to capture the season title for the Breezy Point Resort men's league.

Despite losing 13-7 to Jon & Dave, Dirt Busters placed second with Double Trouble finishing third.

Breezy Point Women's League

Jean Appleton, Chris Bjornson and Kathy McTague shot 51 to win the mystery game Aug. 28 during the Breezy Point Resort season finale.

Sue Marsolais, Judi Moravec, Bugs Schmidt and Joi Brandt shot 55 for second place. Barb Owens, Sue Adamson, Eileen Henderson and Sylvia Schmitt placed third with a 58. In fourth place, was Ruth Tiedeman, Judy Thomas, Bunny Oseland and Patty Carlyle..

Crosswoods Men's League

The team of Jim Fraser, Loyal Meech, Dale Stevens and Pat McAlpine finished first on the front nine while John Sesin, Jay Wiltrout, Don Miller and Gary Hein were first on the back nine during Crosswood's Men's Golf League play on Thursday, Aug. 28.

The team of Randy Kraft, Neal Bailey, Marty Appel and Joe Smith were second on the front nine while Chet Herrboldt, Roger Coult, Steve Laak and Gene Guthmueller were second on the back nine.

Individual honors went to John Ritter, closest to the pin on No. 6, Wiltrout, closest to the pin on No. 17, Roger Coult, longest putts on No. 9 and No. 18; Paul Hamling, chip-in for birdie on No. 10; Appel, front nine individual low net; Kraft, back nine individual low net; and Dave Barnes, individual low round with 62.

On Tuesday, Aug. 26, Jerry Martin, Dave Branum, Gary Munger and Bob Johnson were first on the front nine while Dick Sletten, Doug Steck, Dan Davis and Dave Barnes were first on the back nine. Gary Villella, Roger Weiss, Jim Weber and Wiltrout were second on the front while Ray Elie, John Antos, Hein and Stephens were second on the back.

Individual awards went to Jim Mateyka, closest to the pin on No. 6; Stevens, closest to the pin on No. 17; Kraft, longest putt on No. 9; Meech, longest putt on No. 18; Daryl Anderson, chip-in for birdie on No. 15; Al Stans and Wiltrout, chip-in for birdie on No. 18; Barnum, front nine low net at 31; Steck, back nine low net at 27; and Steck, overall low score with 61.

Grand View Lodge outing

Diane Aydt, Betty Kackman, Marlene Perkins and Val Dean Lueck shot a 46 to win the Aug. 26 Pink Ball Event during the Grand View Lodge Women's Outing.

Katie Wallace, Candace Prigge, Stephanie Murray and Doreen Robideau shot 47 to tie the team of Sue House, Marian Duffy, Carri Spitzack and Connie Lazor for second.

Renee Steffen made the longest putt and Kackman was closest to the pin.

The Sept. 9 Outing will be Coed with a 5 p.m. start at The Pines..

Chix with Stix

Flossie Ahles shot a 34 to win the CrissCross game Aug. 28 at Grand View Lodge's The Pines.

Sandy Lindberg shot 37 for second followed by Carol Meyer's third-place 38 and Debbie Briggs' fourth-place 39.

Lindberg swept the hole events with the longest putt and closest to the pin.

Briggs and Meyer both had birdies and chip ins.

Play on Sept. 4 will be at The Preserve. Sept. 11 will be at The Pines.

Kurt Mattson of Howard Lake scored his first-ever hole-in-one on the 8th hole at Emily Greens using a 4 hybrid.

Dave Hansen of New Ulm aced the sixth hole at Crosswoods Golf Course in Crosslake on Aug 30 using a 4 hybrid.
