Pink Links

Joan Hasskamp, Candace Prigge, Deb Enger and Denise Millard shot 30 on The Lakes Course while 30 was the winning score on the Woods Course as well during the June 17 Pink Links for Cancer golf fundraiser at Grand View Lodge.

Judi Moravec, Katie Wallace, Susan Marsolais and Kathy McTagne shot the 30 for first on The Woods.

Rox Thompson, Pam Musielewicz, Nancy Schmidt and Pat Kline shot 31 to first on the Marsh Course.

The event, formerly known as the Pink Ribbon Golf Classic, unveiled its new name and logo in February and changed to a nine-hole scramble with the top three teams declared on all three nines.

Money raised from this year's event will go to St. Joseph Foundation Pay It Forward and the Angel Foundation. The funds will be distributed locally in Crow Wing and Cass counties to help cancer patients and their families with non-medical financial help.

Next year's Pink Links is already scheduled for June 16 at The Pines at Grand View Lodge.

Crosswoods Men's League

John Jensen was player of the day in Crosswoods Men's League action June 17 with a low net total of 64. Don Miller had the individual low net on the front nine with 32, and Nick Loscheider on the back nine with 29.

Play of the day was "2 best balls of 4." Placing first were the teams of Larry Koenig, Gene Guthmueller, Miller and Dave Branum on the front nine, and Randy Kraft, Ed Kellogg, Roger Weiss and Al Stans on the back nine.

Taking second were the teams of John Sesin, Loyal Meech, Jim Mateyka and Jerry Bourassa on the front nine, and Dale Erickson, Dave Schrupp, Marty Appel and Jim Hanson on the back nine.

Al Olson and John Antos won closest to the pin, and Appel and Schrupp had the longest putts. Kraft had an eagle, and Weiss, Palmer Sorenson, Schrupp and Miller all had chip-ins for birdies.

New members are welcome at 8 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Crosswoods Women's Leagues

Game of the day was "one low net plus one low gross" in Crosswoods Women's League 9-hole action June 18. First-place team included Sue Farrell, Helen Blatz, Bonnie Anderson and Judy Hein. Second place went to the team of Harriet Smith, Judy Nicholas and Pat Oleson.

Nichols had low net, and Vickie Nygaard had a birdie.

Whitefish Men's League

Jack Heidman won the individual low net event June 17 in the Whitefish Golf Club Men's League. Second went to Steve Ogren with Erlin Johnson third.

In the second flight, Terry Stansfield finished first followed by Bill Johander and Gary Kipling.

Hank Duitsman won the third flight with Ed Bontrager second and Greg Lindahl third.

Longest putts went to Gary Amundson and Hank Duitsman. Closest to the pin were Dick Hanson and Dave Keeling.

Whitefish Women 18-Hole

Barb Hanson and Betsy Otteson tied for first in Flight A with a game score of 64 each June 18 during the Whitefish Women's 18-Hole League game of "player's choice."

Cheryl Bontrager and Maxine Riches tied for third in Flight A, each with a game score of 68.

In Flight B, Nancy Schmidt placed first with 66. Myra Faust shot 68 and Carol Germann scored 69, to take second and third. Cheryl Stansfield won Flight C with a 70. Shari Loechler was second with 72 and Judy Eastwood third with 77.

Birdies were recorded by Riches, Hanson, Kelen McGrath and Faust.

Cheryl Stansfield garnered low-net honors with a 63. Shari Loechler carded a net 66.

Regular league events will resume July 9.

Whitefish Women 9-Hole

The Whitefish Women's Nine-Hole League's game of the day June 18 was "odd balls," where players added their net scores on holes 11, 13, 15 and 17. Winners with the lowest net scores on these holes were: first, Vicki Dypwick with a net score of 12; second, Janet McDougal with a net score of 15; and third (four-way tie), Kathy Foster, Pat Larson, Pat Montgomery and Clarise Skalman with net scores of 16.

Skalman had the low total net of nine holes with 37.

Tuesday Morning Men's League, 8:30 a.m.

First place (tie) went to the teams of Ken Lieske, Bill Wroblewski, Bill Dehnert and Bob Ecklund, and Jim Wells, Cy Kruse, Keith Walker and Jerry Hagel. The team of Bob Arendt, Charlie Peterson and Tom Walker took third, followed by the team of Gene Jensen, Dave Schwarze, Pat O'Conner and Milt Beyer in fourth.

Jensen and Gary Nelson were closest to the pin. Wroblewski had the longest putt, and Peterson and Kruse had chip-ins.

Tuesday Morning Back 9 League, 10:30 a.m.

Bill Dehnert, Mike Oelrich and Tom Walker took first, followed by Jim Wells, Cy Kruse and Keith Walker in second.

Wednesday and Thursday Ladies Leagues

Canceled because of weather.

Wednesday Night Women's League

Play of the day was "lowest score on odd holes." Winners were Becky Guida, Jane McKinley, Charly Richters, Carol Germann, Mary Patterson and Cheri Luc.

Mary Schreier, Marly Patterson, Germann and Marlene Brannan had chip-ins. Patterson and Eileen Jensen had birdies.

Thursday Morning Women's League, 9 a.m.

League play canceled because of weather.

Grand View Lodge Outing

Judi Moravec, John Oswald and Jon and Susan Marsolais shot 35 to win the Grand View Lodge Coed Outing June 10 at The Pines.

Tying for second with 36s were the teams of Chris and Bob Lee with Donna and Tom Motzko and the team of Carrie Spitzack, Katie Wallace, Jim Kendall and Wayne Rolow.

Tying for third with 37s were the teams of Joyce Grant, Bill Hoff, Bob and Sue House and the team of Candace Prigge, Pete Carlson, Stephanie Haiden and John Rappath.

Fourth with a 38 was Stephanie and Mike Murray, Sean Murray and Doreen Robideau.

Pete Carlson and Candace Prigge made the longest putts. Sean Murray and Stephanie Haiden were closest to the pin.

The next Coed Outing is July 8 at the Preserve.

Chix with Stix

Debbie Briggs' 12 points put her in first place for the June 19 "bingo, bango, bongo" event during the Chix with Stix event at Grand View Lodge's The Pines.

Joni Meyer placed second and Coralee Ostlund third.

Briggs was also closest to the pin.

Becky Butcher needed a scorecard playoff to win the June 12 "criss/cross" event at The Pines. She bettered Pat Lewis, who also shot a 30. Briggs fired a 31 for third.

Leslie Gravley made the longest putt and Butcher was closest to the pin.

Flossie Ahles made two chip-ins, with Jann Blesener, Briggs and Butcher carding birdies.

League play will travel June 26 to Cragun's Legacy Courses.

Stone wins on home course

Alex Stone of Crosslake shot 85 to win the June 16 Minnesota Section PGA Junior Tour event at Crosswoods Golf Course.

Eva Jackson, also of Crosslake, shot 94 for second place.

Hunter Clement of Crosslake placed third in his age group. Clement fired an 82 to missing finishing in a first-place tie by one stroke.

Danny Olson of Nisswa shot 94 for seventh.

Alexandra Nelson of Pillager shot 93 to win the girls 16-18 bracket.

Julia Wallace of Baxter tied for fourth with a 106 during the June 19 Junior Tour event at Blueberry Pines in Menahga.

MWGA results

Claudia Pilot of Grand View Lodge and Brenda Williams of Windsong Farm shot 75 Monday and sit eight shots behind the first round leaders during the Minnesota Women's State Amateur four-ball championship at New Prague Golf Club.

Steffi Neisen and McKenzie Neisen, both of New Prague Golf Club, lead the way with a 67.

Savannah Stone of Crosswoods Golf Course and Brittany Neff of Tartan Park shot 79.

Barb Hanson of Whitefish Golf Club and Rose Hermodson of Brackett's Crossing shot 88 and are tied for 11th in the first flight.
