Hakkinen helps U.S. team to 9th-place finish
HOCHFILZEN, Austria — Norway won the opening men’s and women’s relay races of the biathlon World Cup season on Sunday.
The men’s team of Rune Brattsveen, Lars Berger, Emil Hegle Svendsen and Tarjei Boe missed seven targets, and Boe had to complete a penalty lap before finishing the 4x7.5-kilometer race in 1 hour, 14 minutes, 52.9 seconds.
Russia missed missed five times and avoided an extra round to take second, trailing Norway by 13.9 seconds.
