Brown Bears topple Monsters in overtime


The Kenai River Brown Bears lost in a shootout to the host Fresno (Calif.) Monsters on Friday in North American Hockey League action, but rebounded for a 2-1 overtime victory against the same squad Saturday.

The Brown Bears are 10-4-1, good for second place in the West Division, while third-place Fresno is 8-5-3. Kenai River is the first team in the West to reach 10 wins.

Coach Oliver David said it’s also the first time in club history the Bears are six games over .500.
