Kenai Course enjoys successful Donnie Morgan tourney
The 2011 KGA Donnie Morgan Championship was a big success.
It was nice to visit with Dick and Shirley Morgan to express appreciation for all they have done for us over the years. We do thank them for everything they have accomplished for all of us. Thanks again for the great cake you provided. We enjoyed it very much. Thanks to Bill Bushnell and Pizza Hut for providing the great pizza on Sunday. Thanks also to Doug Jung and Carrs-Safeway for providing all the goodies for Saturday and Sunday.

The seniors took to the course Aug. 9. Thirteen players participated in the weekly event. There was a tie for low net between Noel Widmayer and Jerry Norris. Low Gross was won by Craig Jung.
On Aug. 16, the seniors took to the course again. Kirk Hyman won Low Gross with a 41. Low Net was won by Bob Drews with a 34. The Closest to the Pin Competition was won by Norris with 10—8. The Longest Putt was won on No. 9 by Jung.
Work on No. 13 is almost completed. All the stumps and roots around the left side of the green have been covered with 3 feet of soil, creating a natural mound that is sloped back to the green, preventing the ball from going into the woods. Now all that needs to be done is some leveling and seeding. Immediately after this project is complete, the same type of treatment will begin around No. 2. We are looking forward to the completion of these projects. Thank you Dusty and Willie for doing such an outstanding job.
The last two years of the Walker Cup have been very interesting. A blowout was administered by each club in respective years. However, on both occasions many close matches went the distance. In each case, the final score was not indicative of the level of competition on display. I would like to congratulate our guys for being gracious in defeat and in victory.
Aug. 27, Memorial Tournament; Sept. 3-4, Kenai Open; Sept. 11, final KGA event and final event of the Atigun Cup Competition; Sept. 23, Glow Ball Tournament. For more information on the Glow Ball Tournament, contact Jennifer Rosin at 398-2808.
As always, I would like to encourage everyone to come out and experience some great fall golf. See you on the course.
