Kenai Course enjoying action-packed tournament season

The Kenai Golf Course continues to be in great playing condition. The greens and fairways are in excellent shape. I would like to encourage everyone to come out and enjoy some great golf. Please contact the clubhouse for information on how to participate in all our special events during the months of August and September.

August 7.KGA event

The third KGA event took place this past weekend. A total of 28 players participated in three divisions.

Gordon Griffin won low gross with a 78, and Jim Bradford won low net with a net of 70, followed by Doug Jung, who also had a net of 70. Notable scores in the first flight included Mark Griffin with an 81, and Rene Alvarez, Todd Eskelin and Chris Moring with 83 apiece.  Jesse Wade and Bob Sizemore came in with a gross of 85.

In the second flight, Mike Kebschull won with a net score of 74, followed by Charlie K. with a net of 76.

Notable scores included Tyler Yamata and Chuck Rupenthal with a net of 80. Kirk Hyman and Davie Litchfield carded a net of 82.

In the third flight, Bill Coghill won with a net of 69. John Gibson won second-low net with a net of 64. Notable scores included Diana Zirul with a net of 74, Ryan Hardy with a net of 75 and Jim Zirul with a net of 81.

The Closest to the Pin contest was won by Greg Harrington No. 5 at 3 feet, 6 inches. No. 9 was won by Gordon Griffin at 10 feet, 10 inches. No. 10 was won by Jim Bradford 13 feet, 8 inches. No. 14 was won by John Glidden at 10 feet, 8 inches.

Skins in the first flight were won by Doug Jung and Chris Murray. In the second flight, skins were won by Tyler Yamata, Greg Harrington and Charlie K. The third flight skins were won by John Gibson, Bill Bushnell, Ryan Hardy, Bill Coghill and Roy Wells.

The final KGA event will be held on September 11th.

Third Annual Waddell and Reed 20/over/under handicapped tournament

The event will be held Aug. 13. The registration deadline is Thursday. The format is 18 holes of net-score golf.

Net score groups will be selected from A and B players. Closest to the Pin prizes will be given out on holes 5, 9, 10, and 14.  Drawings will be held for golf bags and other prizes.

Tournament update 

Aug. 13th, 20/over/under Tournament; Aug. 20-21, Donnie Morgan Club Championship; Aug. 27, Memorial Tournament; Sept. 3-4, The Kenai Open; Sept. 11, Final KGA event; Sept. 14, Atigun Cup playoffs begin.
