Shawn Maltby leaving post as Peninsula Oilers general manager

Peninsula Oilers General Manager Shawn Maltby is leaving his post after six seasons, accepting the same position with the Anchorage Bucs of the Alaska Baseball League.

Maltby, 37, guided the Oilers to the ABL regular-season title in 2006 and 2011.

"It means the world. It's tough to do because these teams are competitive," Maltby said of winning the league his final season. "To go out on top, it really means a lot. It's not just me, it's the entire team and coaching staff."
