Oilers' Miller cleans up in end-of-season awards
Oilers shortstop Mike Miller was named Player of the Year and the Gold Glove in awards voting by coaches and broadcasters announced Saturday.
Through Thursday, Miller was leading the Alaska Baseball League with a .348 average. He also had 21 runs scored and eight doubles. His fielding percentage was .972.
Oilers head coach Dennis Machado earned Coach of the Year honors for leading Peninsula to the league title, while Oilers third baseman Patrick Wisdom was the Silver Slugger.
Through Thursday, Wisdom was hitting .260 with four home runs and a league-leading 25 RBIs.
The only non-Oiler to win an award was Glacier Pilots outfielder Aaron Judge, who was named the Top Prospect.
