Thanks to audience at ‘Evening of Classics’
We have the best audiences that anyone could ask for! Last Friday night was the Evening of Classics concert, our annual fundraiser for the Kenai Peninsula Orchestra. Our audience was huge, and yet, as each soloist performed, the large crowd sat totally silent and attentive. At the end, in the fun spirit of the event, all 180 people from all walks of life and all ages, stood up and did the "Chicken Dance" while the orchestra played.
Besides our many soloists, the Central Peninsula Community Orchestra, directed by Mellisa Nill, and the Redoubt Chamber Orchestra, directed by Tammy Vollom-Matturro performed. Many young people and community musicians play in these groups, and we would like to thank them for all their hard work and energy.
Special thanks go to Marc Berezin, a great emcee; Mary Broderick, who provided artwork for the poster, the program and a print which was auctioned off; Libby Berezin, who provided pottery for the auction; Al and Carol Fry, Ida Pearson, Chris Schrier, Ray the violist, who all helped with set-up, clean-up, and reception; and Randy Parshall and Christ Lutheran Church's congregation who are so hospitable and accommodating for our many musical events.
Most of all, thanks to our community for your continued support of the orchestra and performers. There wouldn't be much point in doing all of this if we didn't have an audience to hear us play!
