Veto draws criticism
Dear Governor Parnell,
I am deeply disappointed that you again vetoed the Natural Gas Transmission Line from Anchor Point to Homer and feel that you owe me and our community a detailed explanation as to why you vetoed this vital shovel ready project.
As a working, taxpaying, home owner and permanent resident of this community I spent a tremendous amount of my personal time and energy informing citizens and business leaders of the importance of this project and urging them to write letters supporting this project. I feel that this project is totally in line with your publicly stated energy goals and is the only project in the whole state budget that has a proven 10 year payback to the residents in just the savings on fuel costs to our area schools, hospital and other state and federal buildings.
In talking with my state representatives, they say, be patient and we will try again in next years budget, I feel that this project needs to happen now, and if this project is tabled to next year the cost will just go up another couple of million and we will lose another year of savings on energy costs to our schools and hospital, not to mention the savings to home owners and businesses.
It is not too late for you to reconsider this project. I am sending you this letter registered mail and think that you owe me and our community a personal response to my comments.
