Take a Kid Fishing was a perfect 10

According to Mrs. Holden’s fourth-grade class, the Take a Kid Fishing Day was a perfect 10!

On May 28, the Pine River Lions along with the Norway Lake Association took the entire fourth-grade class fishing on Norway Lake. The 63 kids all caught fish and received bags of tackle and other prizes.

I would like to thank Patrick McGowan, Minnesota conservation officer in Pine River, who spoke to the kids May 27 at the school.

Thank you to the guides who took the kids fishing on their pontoons.

Thank you to Mrs. Holden, Pine River-Backus fourth-grade teacher, for helping coordinate this event with me.

Also thank you to the Norway Lake Association and the Pine River Lions for donating prizes for the event.

All of the bait for the day was donated by Lake N River Bait, Brainerd, and all of the tackle for prizes was donated by CSI Sports of Sauk Rapids, Minn., including many manufacturers.

And a last thank you to Jack Rysavy from the Lions for his assistance.

Diane Johnson,

Pine River Lions chairman
